I didn’t have much choice at the time, but I feel I should have protested and asked for a neutral bike to finish the stage, as the next 12 rolling km leading to the bottom of the climb were the worst of the entire week: I literally couldn’t pedal past 18 km/h, which meant I basically had to freewheel my way towards the finish, and at the same time my 52-34 gearing was not especially comfortable either on anything above 6%
